উপশম:
- আক্রান্ত অংশে ঠান্ডা পানি দিয়ে ধুলে, ধৌত করলে উপশম।
- খোলা বাতাসে উপশম।
- ঠান্ডা পানি বা ঠান্ডা পানি দিয়ে গোসল করলে উপশম।
- হাঁটলে বা অবস্থান পরিবর্তন করলে উপশম।
- চোখের নিচে থলের মত স্ফীত; ব্যাগের ন্যায় ফোলা। (চোখের উপরে ফোলা কেলি কার্ব)

- মাদকসেবীদের উদরাময়, ডায়রিয়া (সে সকর মদ্যপ মদ্যপায়ীদের চর্মরোগ চাপা পড়েছে)।
- ডান পাশ আক্রান্ত।
- থেমে থেমে জ্বর; বিকাল ৩ টায় পিপাসাসহ জ্বর।
- নাজুক অবস্থা; হাত থেকে জিনিস পত্র পড়ে যায়।
- পড়ালেখা করতে গেলে; অধ্যয়ন করার চেষ্টা করলে মনোযোগ দিতে পারে না।
- চোখের জল, অশ্রু গরম।
- দুধ পছন্দ; দুগ্ধ পানের ইচ্ছা হয়। (রাসটক)
- মলদ্বার যেন খোলা, সঞ্চালনে, প্রতিটি নড়াচড়ায় অসাড়ে মলত্যাগ করে।
- প্রস্রাবের পরিমাণ কম, অল্প।
- যেন আর শ্বাস নিতে পারবে না-এমন মনে হয়।
- এপিস মেলিফেকা এবং রাস টক্স ঔষধ দুইটি পরস্পর শত্রুভাবাপন্ন।

- মুত্র স্বল্পতা ও মূত্রকষ্ট (তবে কাদাচিৎ কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে প্রচুর প্রস্রাব দেখা দিতে পারে)।
- প্রচন্ড প্রদাহ এবং জ্বালা।
- প্রদাহযুক্ত স্থান অত্যন্ত ফোলা, সূচিবিদ্ধবৎ বেদনা এবং তাহাতে অত্যন্ত জ্বালা থাকে।
- চোখের নিম্নপাতা ফুলিয়া উঠে-তৎসহ প্রস্রাবের স্বলপ্তা।
- স্পর্শকাতরতা অত্যন্ত প্রবল এবং প্রথম শ্রেণির গরমকাতরতা।
- কখনও কখনও এপিসের ক্রিয়া মন্থরগতি বিশিষ্ট; বহুদিন অতিবাহিত হইবার পর ইহাকে কার্য্য করিতে দেখা যায়।
- ঔষধ প্রয়োগের পর প্রস্রাব বৃদ্ধি শুভ লক্ষণ।
- গর্ভাবস্থায় এপিস নিম্নতর শক্তি প্রয়োগে অনেক সময় গর্ভপাত করাইয়া দেয়।
- এপিস ৬ষ্ঠ মাসে গর্ভপাত আশংকা দূর করে।
- পেঁয়াজ খাইলে এপিসের ক্রিয়া নষ্ট হয়।
- এপিসের আগে বা পরে রাস টক্স ব্যবহার করা উচিৎ নয়।
- ২৪ ঘন্টার আগে এই ঔষধের ক্রিয়া শুরু নাও হতে পারে ।
সর্তকতা: গর্ভের প্রথম তিন মাসের মধ্যে এপিস সর্তকতার সহিত প্রয়োগ করবেন । নিম্নশক্তি সমূহ গর্ভস্রাব ঘটানোর সম্ভাবনা সৃষ্টি করে –ডাঃ কাউপরথোয়েট ।

- ছোট ছোট ছেলে মেয়ের হাত হইতে জিনিষ প্রায়ই পড়িয়া যায়।
- হাত এবং আঙ্গুলগুলিকে স্থির রাখিতে পারে না।
- নিদ্রালুতা বা ঘুম ঘুম ভাব।
- সকল রোগীই তৃষ্ণাহীন; বিশেষ করে উচ্চতাপ বিশিষ্ট জ্বরে তৃষ্ণাহীনতা ।
- পিপাসাহীন।
- জ্বরে পিপাসাহীনতা।
- রোগ আক্রমণ শরীরের ডান পাশে; প্রথমে ডান পার্শ্বে, তাহার পর বাম পার্শ্বে যেতে পারে ।
- প্রথমে ডানে আক্রমণ, তারপর বামে আক্রমণ।
- যে কোন প্রদাহ স্পর্শকাতর ।
- ফোলা ও জ্বালা; চক্ষুর নিম্ন পাতায় প্রথমে শোথ দেখা দেয়।
- ব্যাথার প্রকৃতি হুল ফোটান ব্যাথা; তাহার সহিত জ্বালা এবং এই জ্বালা ঠান্ডা পানিতে উপশম।
- প্রস্রাব স্বল্পতা ও মূত্র কষ্ট (ব্যতিক্রম: কখনো বেশি পরিমাণে প্রস্রাব হতে পারে)।
- সামান্য কারণে কাঁদে ।
- শোথের স্থানটি টিপলে বসে যায়।

- তলপেটে টাটানি ।
- নিম্নাঙ্গের পক্ষাঘাত।

- মৌমাছি/বোলতার কামড়ে অসহ্য বেদনা ও ফুলে গেলে।

- হাঁটুর বাত বা সাইনোভাইটিস ।

বৃদ্ধিঃ গরমে, বিকাল ৩ টায়, ঘুমের পর, জলে ভিজিয়া, বদ্ধ ঘরে বা ঘরের গরমে, আক্রান্ত স্থান গরম জলে ধোয়াইলে কিংবা গরম সেক দিলে বৃদ্ধি, ছুইলে, চাপ দিলে, প্রাতঃকালে (উদারাময়)বৃদ্ধি।

Poison of the Honey Bee (Apium virus.)
- Adapted to the strumous constitution; glands enlarged, indurated; scirrhus or open cancer.
- Women, specially widows; children and girls who, though generally careful, become awkward, and let things fall while handling them (Bov.).
- Bad effects of acute exanthema imperfectly developed or suppressed (Zinc.); measles, scarlatina, urticaria.
- Ailments from jealousy, fright, rage, vexation, bad news. Irritable; nervous; fidgety; hard to please.
- Weeping disposition; cannot help crying; discouraged, despondent (Puls.).
- Sudden shrill, piercing screams from children while waking or sleeping (Hellebore).
- Oedema; bag-like, puffy swelling under the eyes (over the eyes, Kali c.); of the hands and feet, dropsy, without thirst (with thirst, Acet. ac., Apoc.).
- Extreme sensitiveness to touch (Bell., Lach.).
- Pain: burning, stinging, sore; suddenly migrating from one part to another (Kali bi., Lac c., Puls.).
- Thirstlessness: in anasarca; acites (Acetic acid, but face more waxy and great thirst).
- Incontinence of urine, with great irritation of the parts; can scarcely retain the urine a moment, and when passed scalds severely; frequent, painful, scanty, bloody.
- Constipation: sensation in abdomen as if something tight would break if much effort were used.
- Diarrhoea: of drunkards; in eruptive diseases, especially if eruption be suppressed; involuntary from every motion, as though anus were wide open (Phos.).
- Affects right side; enlargement or dropsy of right ovary; right testicle.
- Intermittent fever; chill 3 p. m., with thirst, always (Ign.); < warm room and from external heat (Thuja, 3 a. m., and at 3 p. m.).
Relations:
- Complementary: Nat. mur. Disagrees, when used either before or after Rhus. Ars. and Puls. follow Apis well.
- Has cured scarlatina albuminuria after Canth., Dig., Hell. failed.
Aggravation:
- After sleeping (Lach.); closed, especially warmed and heated rooms are intolerable; from getting wet (Rhus), but better from washing or moistening the part in cold water.
Amelioration:
- Open air; cold water or cold bathing; uncovering; pains by coughing, walking or changing position; when sitting erect;

- Acts on cellular tissues causing edema of skin and mucous membranes.
- The very characteristic effects of the sting of the bee furnish unerring indications for its employment in disease.
- Swelling or puffing up of various parts, edema, red rosy hue, stinging pains, soreness, intolerance of heat, and slightest touch, and afternoon aggravation are some of the general guiding symptoms.
- Erysipelatous inflammations, dropsical effusions and anasarca, acute, inflammation of kidneys, and other perenchymatous tissues are characteristic pathological states corresponding to Apis.
- Apis acts especially on outer parts, skin, coatings of inner organs, serous membranes. It produces serous inflammation with effusion, membranes of brain, heart, pleuritic effusion, etc.
- Extreme sensitiveness to touch and general soreness is marked.
- Constricted sensations.
- Sensation of stiffness and as of something torn off in the interior of the body.
- Much prostration.
Mind:
- Apathy, indifference, and unconsciousness.

Awkward; drops things readily.
- Stupor, with sudden sharp cries and startings.
- Stupor alternating with erotic mania.
- Sensation of dying.
- Listless; cannot think clearly.
- Jealous, fidgety, hard to please.
- Sudden shrill, piercing screams.

Whining.

Tearfulness.
- Jealously, fright, rage, vexation, grief.
- Cannot concentrate mind when attempting to read or study.
Head:
- Whole brain feels very tired.
- Vertigo with sneezing, worse on lying or closing eyes.
- Heat, throbbing, distensive pains, better on pressure, and worse on motion.
- Sudden stabbing pains.
- Dull, heavy sensation in occiput, as from a blow, extending to neck (better on pressure), accompanied with sexual excitement.
- Bores head into pillow and screams out.
Eyes:
- Lids swollen, red, edematous, everted, inflamed; burn and sting.
- Conjunctiva bright red, puffy.

Lachrymation hot.
- Photophobia.

Sudden piercing pains.
- Pain around orbits.
- Serous exudation, edema, and sharp pains.
- Suppurative inflammation of eyes.
- Keratitis with intense chemosis of ocular conjunctiva.
- Staphyloma of cornea following suppurative inflammation.
- Styes, also prevents their recurrence.
Ears:
- External ear red, inflamed, sore; stinging pains.
Nose:
- Coldness of tips of nose.
- Red, swollen, inflamed, with sharp pains.
Face:
- Swollen, red, with piercing pain.
- Waxy, pale, edematous.
- Erysipelas with stinging burning edema.
- Extends from right to left.
Mouth:
- Tongue fiery red, swollen, sore, and raw, with vesicles.
- Scalding in mouth and throat.
- Tongue feels scalded, red hot, trembling.
- Gums swollen.
- Lips swollen, especially upper.
- Membrane of mouth and throat glossy, as if varnished.
- Red, shining, and puffy, like erysipelas.
- Cancer of the tongue.
Throat:
- Constricted, stinging pains.
- Uvula swollen, sac-like.
- Throat swollen, inside and out; tonsils swollen, puffy, fiery red.
- Ulcers on tonsils.
- Fiery red margin around leathery membrane.
- Sensation of fishbone in throat.
Stomach:
- Sore feeling.
- Thirstless.
- Vomiting of food.
- Craving for milk(Rhus).
Abdomen:
- Sore, bruised on pressure, when sneezing.
- Extremely tender.
- Dropsy of abdomen.
- Peritonitis.
- Swelling in right groin.
Stool:
- Involuntary on every motion; anus seems open.
- Bloody, painless. Anus feels raw.
- Hemorrhoids, with stinging pain, after confinement.
- Diarrhoea watery, yellow; cholera infantum type.
- Cannot urinate without a stool.
- Dark, fetid, worse after eating.
- Constipation; feels as if something would break on straining.
Urine:
- Burning and soreness when urinating. Suppressed, loaded with casts; frequent and involuntary; stinging pain and strangury; scanty, high colored.
- Incontinence.
- Last drops burn and smart.
Female:
- Edema of labia; relieved by cold water.
- Soreness and stinging pains; ovaritis; worse in right ovary.
- Menses suppressed, with cerebral and head symptoms, especially in young girls.
- Dysmenorrhea, with severe ovarian pains.
- Metrorrhagia profuse, with heavy abdomen, faintness, stinging pain.
- Sense of tightness.
- Bearing-down, as if menses were to appear.
- Ovarian tumors, metritis with stinging pains.
- Great tenderness over abdomen and uterine region.
Respiratory:
- Hoarseness; dyspnśa dyspnea, breathing hurried and difficult.
- Edema of larynx.

Feels as if he could not draw another breath.
- Suffocation; short, dry cough, suprasternal.
- Hydrothorax.
Extremities:
- Edematous.
- Synovitis.
- Felon in beginning.
- Knee swollen, shiny, sensitive, sore, with stinging pain.
- Feet swollen and stiff.
- Feel too large. Rheumatic pain in back and limbs; Tired, bruised feeling.
- Numbness of hands and tips of fingers.
- Hives with intolerable itching.
- Edematous swellings.
Skin:
- Swellings after bites; sore, sensitive.
- Stinging.
- Erysipelas, with sensitiveness and swelling, rosy hue.
- Carbuncles, with burning, stinging pain (Ars; Anthrac).
- Sudden puffing up of whole body.
Sleep:
- Very drowsy.
- Dreams full of care and toil.
- Screams and sudden starting during sleep.
Fever:

Afternoon chill, with thirst; worse on motion and heat.
- External heat, with smothering feeling.
- Sweat slight, with sleepiness.
- Perspiration breaks out and dries up frequently.
- Sleeps after the fever paroxysm.
- After perspiration, nettle rash, also with shuddering.
Modalities:
Worse, heat in any form; touch; pressure; late in afternoon; after sleeping; in closed and heated rooms. Right side.
Better, in open air, uncovering, and cold bathing.
Relationship:
- Complementary.: Nat mur. The "chronic", Apis; also Baryta carb, if lymphatics are involved.
- Inimical. Rhus.
- Compare: Apium virus (auto-toxćmia, with pus products); Zinc; Canth; Vespa; Lachesis.
Dose:
- Tincture to thirtieth potency.
- In edematous conditions the lower potencies.
- Sometimes action is slow; so several days elapse before it is seen to act, and then urine is increased.
- Apium virus, sixth trituration.
E. B. NASH
Apis Mellifica
- Burning, stinging pains (like bee stings); eyelids; throat, panaritium or felon, hćmorrhoids, ovaries, (especially right one), breasts (mastitis), skin (erysipelas, urticaria, carbuncles).
- Great edema; general or local (face, ears, eyelids, especially lower); throat (diphtheria); genitals (especially scrotum); skin (erysipelas and urticaria); everywhere; general anasarca, abdomen.
- These edemas are accompanied with the characteristic pains, or no pain at all.
- Stupor, with sharp, sudden, shrill cries in brain disease (crie encephalique).
- Thirstlessness, especially in dropsies and during heat of intermittents.
- Skin alternately dry and perspiring.
- Suffocative; feels as if every breath would be his last, especially in dropsical conditions or hot stage of intermittents.
- Modalities: < after sleep, on touch (very sensitive), from heat and warm room; > cold room or air and cold applications.
- Bad effects from suppressed or retrocedent exanthemata; measles, scarlatina, urticaria.
- Involuntary diarrhśa, with sensation as if anus were wide open.
- It seems to me that in this remedy also the leading characteristic is to be found in its sensation-burning, stinging pains.
- Hering put it -"redness and swelling with stinging and burning pain in the eyes, eyelids, ears, face, lips, tongue, throat, anus, testicles." (> by cold applications ought to be added).
- No remedy has this alternation so strong as Apis. Sensation as if every breath would be his last is very characteristic, and occurs not only in dropsical troubles of the chest, but seems also to be a nervous symptom.

APIS MELLIFICA
Pains like bee-stings, with the thrust and the burning following; absence of thirst; scanty urine: shrill, sudden, piercing screams while sleeping or waking, form invaluable key-notes to the use of this remedy.
Mental.--The mental symptoms are rich in unconsciousness, absent-mindedness, impaired memory, and slow march of ideas. Dulness, stupor, stertor: sensitiveness. Lets things fall from the hands from inadvertency. Delirium with or without muttering. Shrill, sudden piercing screams, sleeping or waking. Great tearfulness, cannot help crying. Cannot bear to be left atone. Very irritable and fidgety about this or that; nothing seems to satisfy; all wrong and out of place. Very jealous. Vertigo on closing the eyes or when the sight is obscured. Premonition of death, thinks it is about to transpire. Dread of death, sensation as if could not breathe again.
Head.--The general character of pains in the head, aside from the stinging, thrusting pains, are an aching-like congestion, pressing or dull heavy headache. (See also mental symptoms.) Apoplexia, hydrocephalus and other disorders of the brain. Bending back and boring the head into the pillow; inability to hold it erect. Scalp very sensitive; copious sweat on the head, scalp, forehead. Confusion of the head with vertigo, worse while sitting and worse still on lying down and closing the eyes. Throbbing in the head. Brain feels very tired. The pains in the head are often relieved by pressure. Chronic headache.
Eyes.--Swelling about the eyes; much inflamed; sometimes entirely closed; very sensitive to the light; obscuration of sight often from opacity of the cornea; cannot look fixedly at any object; cannot read by artificial lights from pain in the eyes; boring, burning, stinging, itching, and shooting in the eyes, or aching extending into the forehead; squinting of one or both eyes; upper lids swell and hang like little sacks over the eyes; very much lachrymation, which feels hot and scalding; eyes are weak and cannot bear much use; chemosis; fistula lachrymalis; sleeps with the eyes wide open; paralysis of right side of the face with right eye closed; chronic inflammation of the conjunctiva, which has become thickened; eyelids everted, red and smarting; œdematous and bag-like under the lower lids; granulated, even on the edges; agglutination of at night; styes with stinging pains; smoky darkness before the eyes.
Ears.--Redness and swelling of both; otitis after scarlatina, hardness of hearing.
Nose.--Much swollen and œdematous; chronic catarrh with crusty nostrils; polypus.
Face.--Red and hot, swollen so as to be unrecognizable, with piercing and burning pain; pale and waxen face, sometimes. swollen, with puffiness about the eyelids; œdematous swelling of the face and puffed eyelids; erysipelas of the face and scalp, often beginning on right side and spreading to the left, or extending down the neck on to the body; lips much swollen and often everted.
Mouth.--The whole margin of the tongue feels as if scalded and quite raw; red fiery appearance of the buccal cavity, very tender dry tongue; on the left of tip of tongue a row of vesicles sore and raw. Can't protrude the tongue, it trembles and catches on the teeth, and inability to talk; tongue hangs from the mouth; red, hot, burning, particularly at tip; dry brown streak down the middle, sides being moist; inflamed and fearfully swollen; cracked, Bore, and ulcerated, or covered with vesicles; white, dry, or covered with white mucus; cancer of., Grinding of the teeth; sudden and involuntary biting them together; covered with yellow mucus or brown sordes. Gums sacculated and look watery. Viscid, tough, frothy saliva. Increased saliva. Fetor of breath.
Throat.--Dryness in, without thirst; dry and burning; sensation of fulness, contraction and suffocation in, deglutition painful; stinging itching deep in; very sore, fiery red and shining; inability to swallow anything with swelling of the tongue; ulcerated Bore throat when rash does not come; diphtheritic Bore throat gets well as a scarlet-rash fever develops; diphtheria when the margins, and a little beyond the membrane, are fiery red and shining, this fiery margin moues on as the membrane increases; no thirst and scanty urine: troublesome tenacious mucus in the throat morning and evening; uvula long and dropsical; small, clear, watery blisters in the back part of the throat; tonsils and fauces highly inflamed and very red; hypertrophied tonsils when very red; stinging and darting in the throat; deep ulcers on tonsils and palate.
Stomach.--Burning heat in the stomach; soreness in the stomach and abdomen; thirst, absence of, insatiable, or for little and often; appetite, loss of, or voracious; bitter or acrid belching; rich in symptoms of nausea; retching, vomiting of food, mucus, even frothy, bile, and vomiting with diarrhœa; weak, faint sensation in stomach.
Abdomen.--Much pain, soreness and sometimes enlargement of the splenic region, sometimes the pain extends upwards; soreness of the bowels or abdominal watts, when touched or pressed; fulness and sensation as if the abdomen were bloated or distended; burning, stinging, or thrusting in: traumatic erysipelas of: rumbling and meteoritic distension of; much distended by fluids; ascites and anasarca; ileo-cæcal region very sensitive on pressure; hard swelling on the right groin, oblong, as large as a cucumber; long-standing inguinal hernia; peritonitis; cannot bear the lightest touch.
Stool and Anus.--Sensation of rawness in the anus, with diarrhœa. Passage of flatus before stool. Copious evacuations of blackish-brown, green or whitish, yellow, watery, mucus or pap-like stools, usually worse in the morning, sometimes occurring at every motion of the body, as if the anus were constantly open. Stools involuntary and painless, or painful and urging, olive-green, profuse, and full of red lumps, like chopped beets; bloody, painless; smell brassy or like carrions; very offensive. Hæmorrhages from the bowels, with burning pain, excoriation of the anus, and constant tenesmus. Anus feels raw. Dysentery painless. Hard and costive stools with stinging pains. Protruding varices, which sting, burn, and smart intolerably.
Urine.--Burning and soreness, agony, strangury, when urinating. Urine very scanty or profuse, usually the former; frequent emission. Pain in region of kidneys, soreness on pressure or when stooping. Frequent and sudden pain along the ureters. Bladder very painful, often tenesmus after urinating. Mach difficulty in voiding urine; must wait a long time before it flows, and then it flows slowly. Incontinence of urine from coughing and other circumstances. Burning and stitching pain in the urethra. Frequent desire day and night, passing but little at a time. Urine often bloody; milky appearance; very dark and frothy; very fetid; very albuminous, sometimes at least one-half; sediment reddish-brown; like coffee grounds.
Sexual.--Male: Chancre with stinging pains like bee-stings and with a highly inflamed circumference. Dropsy of the scrotum and prepuce; hydrocele. Female: Threatened abortion in the early months, with heaviness of the abdomen, restlessness, and yawning, or with stinging pains in ovarian regions. Much pain in the right ovarian region during or before menstruation. Stinging pains in ovaries, like bee-stings. Constant feeling of weight and heaviness in ovarian regions, and much tenderness in. The ovaries feel better to lie on right side. Pain in the right ovary, often with enlargement, with pain in the left pectoral region, with cough. Ovarian tumors with stinging pains like bee-stings. Metritis, peritonitis with stinging, thrusting pains. Labor-like, bearing down pains, followed by dark bloody mucus. Ulceration and engorgement of os uteri. Uterine dropsy. Menses too profuse or too scanty; metrorrhagia with red spots, stinging like bee-stings; irregular, lasting but a day or two, feeling very weak; copious, lumpy, with pain in the spleen; too soon; delayed or suppressed; a sensation as if they were coming on, but they don't come. Leucorrhœa acrid, profuse, green, or yellowish, Large and painful swelling of the labia, with heat and stinging pains. At the critical age, chronic diarrhœa of blond and mucus. Dropsy in the latter part of pregnancy attended with puerperal convulsions. Erysipelatous inflammation of the breasts. Swelling and hardness of the mammæ, threatening to ulcerate. Scirrhus or open cancer of the mammæ, with stinging, burning pains. Ovarian affections, with inverted nipples. The right ovary is most susceptible. Great sensitiveness to touch or lightest pressure a characteristic.
Larynx.--Considerable hoarseness. Irritation to cough felt deep down in back of the throat pit, and considerable coughing in the evening, and in the night preventing sleep; every shock from coughing gives pain in the head and some pain through the chest, as from the clavicle; relieved after loosening a small portion of mucus, or a large quantity of transparent, frothy and bloody mucus is expectorated. Great dyspnœa, as if every breath would be the last; wants to be fanned. Asthma, worse in cold weather; intense sensation of suffocation; throws the collar wide open, could bear nothing about the throat. Hurried and difficult respiration with fever and headache. Sensation of fulness, constriction, or suffocation in the throat, with difficult, anxious breathing. Œdema of glottis; of larynx; croup; chronic laryngitis.
Chest.--Sharp pains, stitches, and stingings in; sensation of soreness, lame, bruised feeling in.
Heart and Pulse.--Sudden and acute pain just below the heart, extending diagonally towards the right chest. Very feeble action of the heart; violent beats, shaking the whole body; intermittent beats. Region of heart sensitive to the least pressure; rasping sounds of systole and diastole unmistakably audible. Palpitation of heart from scanty secretion of urine, perfectly cured by establishing the natural quantity. Pulse almost imperceptible at wrist; accelerated and full; very frequent and hard; wiry; irregular and slow pulse; intermittent.
Neck and Back.--Back feels lame and bruised; stitches and stingings in. Stiff neck and back. Swelling of the glands of the neck. Cerebro-spinal meningitis.
Extremities.--Upper: The arms, hands, or fingers, one, both, or all, swell, become very tender, and remain so for several days. Numbness of the hands, or fingers, especially at their tips; burning like fine. One of the first remedies to give at the very beginning or threatening of a felon. Lower: Sore feelings and pains in. Burning, itching, and stinging in the swelling of the legs and feet, often white, waxy, and transparent. Soles of the feet feel when walking as if cushioned. Sensation of burning in the feet and toes. Reddish and bluish streaks; hard and painful spots, making them painful to moue. Œdematous swelling of lower extremities, Swelling of the knee. Numbness of the limb came side on which ovary is affected. Eczema. Foot-sweat checked by cold. Numbness and coldness of feet and in diphtheritic albuminuria. Puffy swelling of the knees.
Sleep and Dreams.--Much yawning. Great inclination to sleep; anxious starting in; restless. Dreams much, of making long journeys; of flying through the air; of bot stones; of walking over bot floors; of walking a long way over wet roads. Disagreeable, unhappy dreams, Sudden waking with shrill, piercing screams.
Fever.--Chill, with red face, and red spots all over the body; chills from 3 to 5 P.M.; often with racking pain all through the head; chills worse in warmth; run down the back; hands and feet feel as if dead. No thirst with the fever; hoarse cough often attends the fever; as fever subsides, great prostration comes on; heat with difficult breathing, as if every breath would be the last. Heat with thirst, wishes to uncover. Much burning of the skin on various parts of the body. Shuddering, then nettlerash. Sweat goes and comes alternately; breaks out and dries up continually. Sweat without thirst. Alter perspiration nettle-rash.
Skin.--Erysipelatous inflammation and swelling, white and hard in the centre. White wales on different parts, itching fearfully. Red and white blotches, with itching. Appearance as of the bites of insects, Bore and painful. Burning, stinging, itching and prickling over the whole body, and painful to touch. Most violent itching all over the body or in any single part. Erysipelas with gangrenous spots. Boils and swellings of all descriptions with stinging pains.
Generalities.--Swelling or "puffing up" of the whole body. Complete anasarca, no thirst, pale, waxy, almost transparent. Twitching; trembling; jactitation of the muscles. Clonic and tonic spasms. Restless moving about. Tired as if bruised all over. General feeling of lassitude with trembling. Heavy and prostrate in fever. Faintness and fainting. Surface of body very sensitive to touch, even the moving of a hair. Great prostration, rapid sinking, rapid pulse, and fever. Dark hæmorrhages.
Worse.--At night, particularly latter part of night; in cold weather; in warm room; lying down.
Better.--During the day when sitting erect.
Remedies following:--Arsen., Pulsat.
Remedies inimical:--Apis and Rhus tox.
